Fluid Audio has announced the Axis studio condenser microphone. The company says that the Axis delivers professional sound quality, versatility and construction at an entry-level price. Let’s have a look, then! Fluid Audio is entering the microphone market with the Axis, the first in a growing product line of recording mics, the company says. The large-diaphragm condenser microphone features a cardiod polar pattern and a gold-sputtered 34 mm diaphragm. The manufacturer claims that the Axis offers high sensitivity and low noise, and that its high SPL of 136 dB makes it suitable for recording loud sources such as drums and bass. The Axis comes with a shock mount and pop filter The Axis looks pretty rugged and sturdy with its brass housing, mesh grille and gold plated output connector. It comes with an equally solid-looking shock mount and a custom-designed pop filter. Everything is housed in a reinforced hard shell case for storage and transport, and they even throw in a cable. If the Axis delivers on the sound, this means that it could be excellent value for money. It’ll be interesting to find out which microphones Fluid Audio will release next!
