Leaf Audio has a bunch of new stuff to show at Superbooth including Microphonic Soundbox Mk3, Microphonic Playground, mULTIple, Dronesynth and some Eurorack cases. Microphonic Soundbox Mk3 The Microphonic Soundbox is an acoustic wooden box for experimental adventures. It has contact mics inside that pick up the various noises generated by playing with the springs, kalimba, twangy bits and rubber bands. Leaf Audio is working on the Mk3 which will introduce a new mounting mechanism for the springs, clipping LEDs for the preamps, an integrated envelope follower with multiple modes, new power management and (at last!) a DC power input. The Microphonic Soundbox Mk3 should be available in the autumn for 279. Microphonic Playground This is simply a box with a contact microphone into which you can throw anything that might make a sound. It has lots of threaded holes for mounting things on the sides or top of the box. You could plug it into the Soundbox or you can run it standalone. Leaf Audio will be released expander kits for it like a bass kalimba but it’s the kind of box that gives you a starting point into electroacoustic experimentation.
